Custom wraps may be ordered according to my time commitments for an additional fee, payable within one week of commencing planning. Time limits will be set for planning, and may vary according to availability of my loom. Semi-custom wraps may be available on some warps for an additional fee payable within one week of commencing planning. Sister wraps booked with a custom wrap are considered semi-custom and subject to the semi-custom fee.
I no longer keep a waiting list for potential custom wraps. Notices will be posted on my Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/Handwovens and/or Elizabeths handwovens ChitChat Group at https://m.facebook.com/groups/860567727322299 when a custom or semi-custom spot is available.

Baby Wraps

Because Mountains Baby Wrap

Elizabeth's Handwovens Baby Wraps are woven by me, with a love of children and a love of weaving in every fibre. I weave the wraps in my home, on my Louet Spring Loom using UKI 2/10 mercerized cotton. Each item is individually designed by me, or by me with customer collaboration. I will not copy another wrap design!

The warp sett is 30 ends per inch(epi) for the body, with a 1/2 inch selvedge sett at 40 epi. This gives a bit more support to the rails. Weft is woven at approximately 26 - 28 picks per inch. These are counted during loom set-up. After-finish counts will be slightly greater due to take-up during weaving and shrinkage during the wet finishing process.

Rails are not hemmed. I use a floating selvedge thread to maintain even selvedges with the twill weave. Cut ends of the wrap are machine stitched to stabilize, then folded twice (2 cm first fold, then folded over again, a 3 cm fold) and machine straight stitched around all four sides of the hem.

All wraps, unless otherwise specified, are woven in a twill weave, which allows a strong cloth at this sett, but which also allows a bit of give to the cloth. Floats are no longer than 3 threads.

My looms are not computerized. Each warp is measured by hand on a warping mill. Each treadle change, each shuttle throw are done manually. Bobbins are wound with a hand winder. Bobbin changes are overlapped 1-2 inches at a selvedge edge. Rarely a warp thread will break during weaving. Should this happen, I overlap the replacement thread for and continue with it for the length of the wrap. Factory knots and joins missed during warping are treated in this same manner.

Wrap width is 70 cm (27.5 in.) - 75 cm. (29.5 in.), and is somewhat pattern dependent. Length is to your specification. All measurements are approximate. Loom take-up and draw-in during the weaving process, fibres relaxing when taken from the loom, and shrinkage on wet finishing can be estimated, but will vary slightly from wrap to wrap. Length is custom, according to your specifications, on all custom orders. Non-custom wraps offered for sale may be made to custom length at my discretion if they are sold before completion.

              Generally accepted sizing is:

        size 2 ….2.7 m. = 8.86 ft. = 102.36 in.

        size 3 … 3.1 m. = 10.17 ft. = 122.05 in.         .

        size 4.....3.6 m. = 11.81 ft. = 141.73 in.

        size 5......4.2 m. = 13.78.ft. = 165 in.

        size 6 - 4.6 m. = 15.09 ft. = 181.10 in

        size 7 - 5.2 m. = 17.06 ft. = 204.72 in.

        size 8 – 5.60 m. = 18.37 ft. = 220.47 in.

Wraps are “wet finished” by a normal cold water machine wash and machine medium heat dry to set the threads. Thread ends at joins are removed, and they are then pressed, hemmed, and labelled. They are then washed, dried and ironed a second time before being shipped.

Your care - Cotton wraps may be washed in cold or warm water and either hung to dry or dried in a dryer. They will require no, or minimal ironing when dried in a dryer. Shrinkage should be minimal. Wraps from other fibres may require hand washing.

Prices vary with baby wrap length and pattern and warp sequence difficulty. Please contact me via Facebook message or at auburnmapleplace@gmail.com . Insurance to cover the full cost of the item must be purchased. A $100 deposit is due before supplies are ordered. The remainder of the price, plus shipping costs, is due on completion/before shipping. I will invoice you for both the deposit and final payment. Payments by PayPal please.

All wraps are inspected during the weaving process, during the finishing process, and before shipping. Treadling errors, mis-picks, etc. are rare, but will be disclosed if they do occur. Customer satisfaction is guaranteed. You may return the wrap for any reason within 30 days, unused, in appropriate packaging and at your cost, for a full item cost refund less shipping. Custom and semi-custom fees are non-refundable.

If you feel, after 30 days or after the wrap has been used, that a wrap is flawed, please document in print and photos, and send the information to me at auburnmapleplace@gmail.com. Return, and /or full or partial refund is at the discretion of Elizabeth’s Handwovens, and covers structural defects only. This guarantee is non-transferable, for original owners only. Please notify me, at time of purchase of the recipients name and address if the wrap is to be a gift.

CUSTOM BABY WRAPS

I will work with customers to weave a custom wrap – within the following parameters. The customer may request colors for warp and weft using the UKI mercerized cotton color chart. It can be found at

http://www.camillavalleyfarm.com/knit/ukicolours.htm

I will not copy another wrap! All designs are original. I will accept photos for color inspiration.

Custom and semi-custom fees are due one week into wrap planning. You will be invoiced via Paypal. This brief time will allow us to get to know each other. A deposit is due before supplies are ordered and final payment, including shipping costs, is due on completion. Wrap satisfaction is guaranteed for a full refund less custom or semi-custom fees and shipping as per the policy stated above. Custom clients may be required to purchase a minimum yardage or provide a “sister”, semi-custom client at my discretion.
